Floral Design Workshops + How We Teach, Create & Connect

At their heart, our floral workshops are about connection - to creativity, to one another, and to the simple joy of working with your hands. They’re designed to be welcoming, inspiring spaces where you can learn something new, create something beautiful, and leave feeling just a little more grounded than when you arrived.

Over time, we’ve received many thoughtful questions about how our workshops are structured and what to expect. We wanted to share a bit more insight, both as a guide and as a way to set everyone up for the best possible experience.
With a background in education and years spent in the classroom, we approach each workshop with both intention and adaptability. We welcome groups of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to larger events, and we thoughtfully adjust how we teach depending on the group, the venue, and the overall theme. No two workshops are ever quite the same, because no two groups learn the same way.
Each workshop includes a completed example arrangement that reflects the concepts being taught. This serves as your visual guide - something you’re always welcome to reference, interpret, and make your own. In addition, every participant receives a resource to take home, but it’s also intended to be used during the workshop itself. It includes key information, mechanics, and design guidance so that if we need to pivot based on timing, pacing, or participant behavior, you still have exactly what you need right in front of you.

Our preferred flow is simple and intentional: we begin by sharing key concepts, walk through the example, and then break the design down into manageable steps and then a demo followed by hands-on work time. It’s a rhythm that allows everyone to build confidence as they go. That said, workshops are living, breathing environments, and sometimes we need to adjust. If participants begin working ahead, we may shift that structure to meet the moment and keep everyone engaged and supported.
We’ve shifted to passing out stems after the initial information and demonstration. This isn’t to limit the experience - it’s to create space for everyone to hear, see, and understand the foundation before diving in. Once you begin designing, there is absolutely time to explore the materials, play with texture and movement, and make the design your own. That balance of listening first, then creating, helps the overall experience feel more cohesive (and enjoyable) for everyone in the room.
One thing our time in the classroom has taught us is that attention is fluid. Adults, just like students, engage in different ways and at different paces. Sometimes the best way to bring everyone together is to simply begin - hands in, stems moving, creativity unfolding. And when needed, we pivot quickly into active design to re-engage and support the group.

If participants are moving ahead, we meet them there. If time is limited, we focus on the most important concepts and allow you to design with support as needed. Teaching is, at its core, about observing and responding in real time.
With larger groups, it’s not always possible to anticipate every need at the moment. We do our very best, but we also ask for a bit of shared responsibility - if you need assistance, please ask. Your provided resource is there to guide you, especially when participants are working at different speeds and a full demonstration isn’t always possible for every step.
Each participant is given a carefully curated selection of flowers and greens based on the cost of the workshop. We ask that this be respected. We do bring a small number of extra stems to account for breakage - because it happens - but these are not intended to extend designs beyond what was planned. Our goal is for every attendee to leave with a full, beautiful arrangement that reflects the design as taught.

At the core of it all is something we value deeply. We love when people come together and, over the course of a workshop, become their own little design community. There’s something special about sharing ideas, encouraging one another, and learning side by side. We’re constantly inspired not only by the flowers, but by the people in the room. The connections, the conversations, the laughter - it’s what makes these experiences so meaningful.
We are especially grateful for the familiar faces who return again and again. Your support, your flexibility, and your willingness to grow with us as we adapt to each workshop does not go unnoticed. Quite simply, we have so much fun with you and we truly look forward to every single one. We love these workshops just as much as you do.

While our community workshops typically run October through April at various venues, we’re excited to now offer more opportunities for private events as well. Whether it’s a girls’ weekend getaway at your condo, a birthday celebration at a local venue, or any occasion worth gathering for, we’re happy to come to you and create something memorable together.
At the end of the day, our workshops are about more than flowers. They’re about experience, connection, creativity, and a shared moment in time.
Here's to creating and connecting together as a community. 💐
